In addition to hking and writing about the Pacific Northwest since 1979  I have written  "Hike of the Week" for the Seattle Post Intelligencer since 1996. I am also author of "Hidden Hikes", published by Mountaineer Books and co-authored "Best Wildflower Hikes" with Art Kruckeberg and Craig Romano.

Whatever form my writing takes in the future I will continue to write about trails with photographs and updates on hikes previously described.

Read "Karens Trails" blog for hiking-related stories, photographs, including trail reports that date back to the early 1980s.

FUTURE hikes:

I'll be hiking several trails inside or near Mount Rainier National Park this summer, starting in June

Other hikes:  Sourdough Mountain, Mount Pugh, Glacier Basin (Monte Cristo area) - many more "favorites" including Kendall Katwalk, Guye Peak (a non-technical scramble) and Snoqualmie Mountain.

I'm just getting warmed up!

See my hiking blogs for details.

My focus is discovering and hiking lesser-hiked trails of Washington as well as established trails that  hikers know and love.

There are so many good (some great) outdoor photographers publishing photographs today.  Mine have a slightly different twist, an ability to take "nothing" and make " somethiing" of it.
